Sanur to Nusa Penida: everything you need to know
Departure times, how early to arrive, what the crossing feels like and how to plan your day once you land at Toya Pakeh.
The Sanur to Nusa Penida crossing is the busiest fast boat route in Bali. Boats leave from the Sanur Beach terminal roughly every 30 to 60 minutes between 7am and 5pm, and the trip takes about 45 minutes in normal conditions.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. Check-in happens at the operator counter on the beach, where your booking code is exchanged for a boarding sticker. Luggage is loaded on the bow, so keep valuables and electronics with you.
Toya Pakeh and Banjar Nyuh are the two arrival harbours on Penida. Confirm which one your ticket uses before you arrange a driver, because the two are about 15 minutes apart by road.
If you only have one day, take the first boat out and the last boat back, and stick to the west coast: Kelingking, Broken Beach, Angel's Billabong and Crystal Bay. The east side deserves its own day.
