Most fast boat operators allow one checked bag up to 20kg plus a small day pack. Extra weight is charged at the counter, usually per 10kg block.

Surfboards and dive gear travel on the roof rack or bow. Use a padded board bag: boats can be loaded quickly and boards knock against each other.

Bags are stacked in the open on many boats. Pack electronics in a dry bag inside your luggage — spray is normal on the crossing.

Label your bag clearly. On busy routes hundreds of similar black suitcases come off the same boat.
